A 11-year-old girl has died after falling into a building in west London.
She was being treated in hospital for an acute respiratory illness and her death is being treated as unexplained.
Police said the girl had fallen down the second floor of a house in the Kensington area.
The boy was treated and released from hospital, the Metropolitan Police said.
It is not clear why she fell down.
Neighbours told the Standard they heard a bang as they went to check on the girl.
“It was really loud and we could hear the girl screaming for help,” one neighbour said.
“It’s terrible, I couldn’t believe it, it was terrifying.”
She said the child had been at school with friends, but had been absent from home for about three days.
Her mother, who lives in the same house, said she could not believe what had happened.
I just can’t believe what happened, she said.
“I just feel sick, I’m just devastated.
She was a beautiful little girl, she was so innocent.
People are just devastated and so sad, they just want answers,” she said, adding she did not want to comment further.
Police said they were not treating it as suspicious and the investigation was continuing.
