The Emoji movie series, written by Will Smith and directed by his brother and frequent collaborator Josh Smith, premiered to mostly positive reviews and has received more than $1.7 billion in ticket sales, according to industry tracker Rentrak.

Smith, who co-wrote the film with fellow writer/director Josh Miller, will be executive producing the first installment.

The film will also star Justin Timberlake, who will voice the main character, as well as Nick Offerman, James Corden, and Emily Blunt.

Production for the new series will begin in May.

The Emojis Movie will be directed by James Gunn, who previously directed The Guardians of the Galaxy film.
